The GP Unique
It's difficult to find a more stylish hatchback than the GP Unique. It features big intakes, an arch extension and a two-part rear wings. These are features normally reserved for French unicorns.
Thankfully, the GP Unique doesn't just look attractive, but also feels incredibly fast. The engine is powerful and smooth, its 332lb ft of torque delivering with minimal fuss from below 1,750rpm, and it's well matched to the quick-shifting 6-speed automatic gearbox. Mini is very focused on lap times, so it's unfortunate that the GP Unique does not have an automatic transmission.
It's not without flaws. For starters, the GP Unique's passive damping is firm but uninvolving. If you drive straight and smooth B road you can easily work the chassis's limits of dynamic, but it's difficult to remain fluid with your inputs. The front end gets a bit snatchy, and the car slams when under pressure by irregular British bumps.
After you have dialed into the GP Unique, its handling is excellent. Its emphatic front end and body control are reminiscent of the JCW race car we drove last year. It's a joy to drive on a smooth road, and especially when you're in a positive mood.
The chassis of the car is different from the standard MT-09 because of its increased torsional rigidity, and larger axles. The new GP has 24.7 degrees of rake and 108mm of trail, which feels much more on the nose than the R6's but it also provides incredible stability when you turn.
Another fantastic feature of GP is the PO Generator module. It lets you examine the inventory on hand, min/max levels that you've set up for each item as well as any open POs from your vendors (ie more inventory is on the way) and then creates an order list of purchase orders you can suggest that you can then send to your suppliers.
The GP 500

In terms of accuracy of the color, it was very close to being perfect with a DeltaE error of just 2.3 - which is very good. It also displayed superb grayscale performance, with clean and distinct shades. The GP500 also displayed subtle rainbow colors when watching the Adam Project. They were visible, however they did not annoy viewers and did not affect the viewing experience.
The sound is also impressive. The GP500 comes with an independent onboard DSP chip with TreVolo psychoacoustic tune which creates 3D audio effects. It uses an internal quad-speaker layout which is located in every corner of the cabinet. This is designed to create a sound field that is immersive for all viewers regardless of the position they are in in the room.
There are various connectivity options with HDMI inputs 1 3, 2, and 3, and an optical Toslink SPDIF port for passing native Dolby Atmos bitstreams to an external sound bar. The GP500 comes with two Type-A USB 2.0 ports for streaming content, and it comes with a 12-volt trigger to allow an electronic screen.

The GP 900
Sceptics will argue that the GP is merely a naked XSR900 in a Wayne Rainey frock, but the reality is that Yamaha's designers have worked hard to create a touching and powerful tribute to its legendary sporty heritage. The GP's new Deltabox frame and swingarm are 55mm longer but are much more compact in corners thanks to the new chassis geometry. A 6-axis IMU with full specifications brings a range of electronic rider aids to the platform. KYB suspension has been upgraded with a larger front fork as well as a longer wheelbase.

There's no question that the GP 900 is an excellent sports heritage-inspired machine and is the perfect commuter or Sunday blaster. The 117bhp CP3 engine is very user-friendly and offers a broad range of power that can be accessed at low revs. Even at speeds on the road the GP's midrange power is enough to recalculate your speed/time/distance calculations and completely eviscerate Google Maps estimated time of arrival. The GP's chassis is equipped with the appropriate amount of stiffness, but it's not as stiff as a R6 or as light and agile as a TT500. It's still a lot of fun and an absolute blast to ride.
